The City of McAllen Parks & Recreation welcomes the
opportunity to accommodate our patrons with special
needs so that full participation in leisure and recreation
programs may be enjoyed by all. Reasonable modifications
will be assessed on a case – by – case basis taking the
appropriate steps to ensuring a safe and enjoyable leisure
experience. Patrons with special needs are encouraged to
bring a companion with them for assistance at no extra
charge in lieu of an additional staff member. The initial
request for accommodation should be made on the
program registration form.

The City of McAllen Parks & Recreation Department will not
prohibit any person from participating in an activity due to
a medical condition or handicap, unless such condition is
likely to cause injury to that individual or other participants
in the activity. A participant who has been notified by a
qualified medical professional that he/she has a medical
condition that is likely to cause injury to themselves or
other participants, is obligated to inform the Parks &
Recreation Department, at the time of registration, of the
condition and willingly withdraw from the program or
activity if requested by the Department. It is recommended
that all participants receive medical authorization before
participating in these programs.
