The 33-acre McAllen Nature Center is located within the city of McAllen, Texas. The nature center is operated and maintained by the McAllen Parks & Recreation Department, offering both public access to on-site green space and trails. The park, with its trail system, seating nodes, and amenities provide the opportunity for a self-guided experience for learning, understanding, and admiring nature.
Five walking trails in the nature park provide opportunities to explore natural habitats including a butterfly garden and resaca. The park also features benches, a picnic area, a cactus garden, and restroom facilities.
With the increasing movement to get children and adults outside, and the growing understanding of the importance of providing people with contact to nature and the outdoors, the McAllen Nature Center serves to a peaceful location for outdoor physical activity while integrating educational components.
